A Message from Pastor Walt

Dear Friends,
     Religion? Who needs it? I have never had much use for religion. Religion is a human invention that tries to fill a void in people’s lives. We try all kinds of things to fill that empty space… some of these are harmless and some hurt others and ourselves. But there is one who can help us find the real meaning of life…Jesus Christ. That’s what Audubon United Methodist Church is all about. We don’t push religion. We deal in relationships.
     First we start with Jesus Christ. The reason we exist and our greatest responsibility is to help people discover a meaningful, life changing relationship with God through Christ. We do this through worship, Bible study, prayer, music, church school and youth group. Second, we believe in relationships with our neighbors and our communities through our outreach programs and activities. Our church actively supports scouting and hosts a Monday night AA group. Our church offers help to folks with special needs and disabilities and food assistance to people in genuine need. Along with neighboring churches, Audubon United Methodist Church is a member of the Audubon Ministerium and the Community Christian Education program for the borough and the surrounding area. For a church to be relevant, it must invest in the community and its people.
     Finally, Audubon United Methodist Church stresses a relationship with the world. Whether it is supporting the Neighborhood Center in Camden, sending “care packages” to servicemen and women overseas, giving to the work of Campus Crusade for Christ, sending our own members on missions to Appalachia or the inner city, providing relief to victims of natural disasters like the Haiti earthquake, or sponsoring missionaries to China and Africa, we accept the challenge to reach beyond the four walls of a building to a broken, hurting world.
     Religion no, relationships yes! I invite you to be part of what God is doing at Audubon United Methodist Church, a church that is making a difference. Come join us for either our contemporary or traditional worship service. Come to Sunday School.   Attend a Community Christian Ed class. Come to our “Supper Club” on Wednesday evenings. Visit our live nativity at Christmas or summer Vacation Bible School. Even join our church…new member classes are offered on a regular basis. You are welcome here!
